Have you ever discovered something about yourself that felt a little bit weird, but also slightly magical?

Well… here’s mine.

😅 Confession: One tiny box of See’s Truffles lasts me months

I know. It sounds impossible. But here’s the truth:

Most of the time, I don’t even eat them.

I just open the box…take a slow breath in…and the smell alone makes me happy, satisfied, and surprisingly at peace.

(It’s okay if you’re shaking your head. I get it. 😂)

But this little ritual taught me an unexpectedly powerful lesson—one I now pass on to the women I coach:

👉 Slowing down and savoring food—with all your senses—changes everything.

Not just your relationship with food…but your entire internal environment.

Let’s break this down.

🌿 The Science + Soul of Savoring

1. Your metabolism actually works better when you slow down

When you breathe, taste, and enjoy your food with presence:

  • Your parasympathetic nervous system activates

  • Digestion improves

  • Your body absorbs nutrients more efficiently

  • Cravings naturally decrease

Pleasure is not the problem.

Rushing is the problem.

2. Slowing down reduces emotional eating

When you allow yourself to taste your food instead of inhaling it, you:

  • Notice what you actually want

  • Feel satisfied sooner

  • Stop eating on autopilot

Sometimes? A deep inhale of chocolate is enough.

(It still sounds weird, doesn’t it? 😄)

3. Savoring enhances emotional and spiritual well-being

When you slow down, you reconnect with:

  • Gratitude

  • Presence

  • The simple goodness God places in front of you

  • A gentler, more compassionate internal voice

Savoring becomes a spiritual practice of noticing:“What is God giving me right now, in this moment?”

4. Sharing pleasure builds connection

Food becomes richer when it’s:

  • Enjoyed with people you love

  • Talked about

  • Laughed over

  • Turned into a small ritual

Even a box of truffles becomes a story of joy, not guilt.

✨ The Big Takeaway

You don’t need to eat more to enjoy food more.

You need to experience it more.

Pause.

Breathe.

Taste.

Savor.

Your body, mind, spirit—and even your relationships—will thank you.

And who knows…maybe your next box of See’s will last longer than you expect. 😉
